On August Bank Holiday, cyclists follow the route taken by Queen Eleanor's coffin from Lincoln to London in 1290. Edward 1 erected a cross to his 'Chere Reigne' (now known as Charing Crosses) at every town where her coffin rested overnight. Stony Stratford was the site of one of these and to mark this the cyclists stop at Stony Stratford Methodist Church. The ride finishes at Eleanor's tomb in Westminster Abbey. The ride raises money towards the homeless project run by the St. Martins in the Field, London.
